CotE Champions

This year’s Geriatrics for Juniors conference included our first ‘CotE Champions’ Poster Competition, which invited FY and CMT doctors to present audits & QIPs they had done within Geriatric Medicine. The standard of entries was incredibly high, and choosing the winners was a difficult job. Judging was done by a guest panel of Geriatricians at G4J15, and the prize was awarded by Kate Granger.

Kate, best known for being the founder of the #hellomynameis campaign and an advocate of compassionate care, is also a Geriatrician. The AEME committee have the utmost respect for her commitment and achievements, and we were honoured when she not only agreed to speak at G4J15, but also allowed us to name the prize after her.

We are therefore pleased to announce the winners of the first ever ‘Kate Granger Prize’ for dedication to improving the care of older patients:

1st Place: Manpreet Dillon – Improving Weekend Handover of the Older Patient

2nd Place: Natalie Lane – Using a Combination of Mediums to Educate Prescribers Quickly and Improve Safe Insulin Prescribing in an Acute Medicine of the Elderly & Stroke Unit

3rd Place: Natalie Phare & Jayne Atkin – Support & Involvement of Carers of Inpatients with Dementia in a Busy Teaching Hospital

Congratulations to the winners. We look forward to running the competition again at next year’s conference. Sign up to our mailing list to stay updated!
